The Most Underrated Swimming Holes Near Austin

shutterstock_622857872

Austin and the surrounding area are full of great swimming holes, but some get less attention than other. That’s great news for you, though, if you decide to head to one in your Ford this summer: less known means less crowds.

Hamilton Pool Preserve

This is probably one of the coolest looking cool spots in Texas. The preserve was formed when the limestone dome over an underground pool collapsed thousands of years ago. There’s a tumbling waterfall that cascades over the limestone cliff into the pool below and a cavernous shaded area formed by the remains of the limestone dome.

Bob Wentz Park

One of Austin’s best kept secrets, Bob Wentz Park is great for swimming, sailing, scuba diving, windsurfing, and picnicking. There’s a beach called “The Point,” which has BBQ grills available and even sandy volleyball courts.

Jacob’s Well

While it’s not very large, Jacob’s Well is certainly unique. Jacob’s Well is a 200-foot deep well, which looks like a deep blue spot compared to the shallow waters surrounding it. It’s popular for diving for obvious reasons. Experienced divers can dive down into the well and explore its depths. There’s also a rocky overhang that you can dive off of, though it’s a bit risky. If you’re not interested in diving, it’s still a great place to wade and cool off.

The 2018 Ford Expedition Lets You Tow Like a Pro

18epd_Gallery_08_1250

It’s summer, and that means it’s the season for boating, travel trailers, and other recreational towables. Most people use either their truck or SUV to tow their toys, and if you’re someone who prefers SUVs to trucks, we’ve got good news for you: the 2018 Ford Expedition has some high tech features that help you to tow like a pro.

SUVs are getting more popular every year, which means that automakers are constantly striding to make them better. The 2018 Ford Expedition is no exception. If you’re not confident about your ability to back up a boat or trailer, you’ll be excited to hear that the 2018 Ford Expedition comes with the optional Pro Trailer Backup Assist feature, which made its debut on the 2016 Ford F-Series.

The new Expedition is getting 100 more pounds of towing ability this year for a total of 9,300. That easily outshines the Chevy Tahoe at 8,400 lbs, the Dodge Durango at 8,600 lbs, and the Nissan Armada at 8,500 lbs.

The system does most of the work for you when backing up; you just need to feed the system exact measurements on the item you’re towing. It saves to the system and then you select it the next time you’re towing it and need to back it up.

Why Choose Ford Over the Competition?

Screen Shot 2017-06-19 at 7.36.54 PM

Why choose a Ford over the competition? Because Fords bring more to consumers than nearly any other automaker. If you want a car, truck, or SUV that’s packed with features, that’s reliable, and that’s affordable to own, Ford is what you need to shop.

Quality and Reliability

The two go hand in hand – if you’ve got a quality car, you’ve got a reliable car. You can trust a Ford to start out great and to last for years without major mechanical issues. Not to mention that Fords come packed with quality materials and features.

Convenience and Safety Features

Speaking of features, Fords have plenty of them. From features that help keep you safe (whether preventing collisions or minimizing damage to you, your passengers, and your Ford) to features that make your drive more comfortable and convenient, your Ford is a well-engineered machine.

Stylish

Maybe subjective, but Fords just look good. With bold, sharp lines, the designers at Ford have really been raising the bar in recent years and the competition has been trying to keep up.

The 2018 Ford Mustang has a Pulse

18MST_Billboard_03_2160

Ford has revealed a cool little feature on the 2018 Mustang. When you enter your Mustang and get in behind the wheel, the push-to-start engine button will actually pulsate at 30 “beats” a minute.

The button will continue to pulse until you press it and turn the engine over. The rate of 30 beats a minute is, according to Ford, the actual biological resting pulse rate of an adult mustang horse.

The cool biologically-inspired feature is meant to convey a sense of readiness to the 2018 Mustang, as if it’s a living, breathing creature that’s raring to go.

Additionally, as learned in the 2018′s January debut, the 2017′s V-6 engine has been dropped and the 6-speed automatic transmission has been replaced with a new 10-speed unit.

The 2018 Ford Mustang is set to go on sale in dealerships nationwide later this year.
