May Events in Temple

The month of May is in full bloom now and so are all of the flowers and trees that decorate our countryside. There are several fantastic festivals, events, and activities happening around Temple this time of year to celebrate this spring month. If you aren’t sure where to take your kids, friends or out-of-town guests, here are some of the best ones just to get you started.

Bloomin Festival

Speaking of blooming, you can’t miss the annual Bloomin’ Festival right here in your beloved town of Temple. This isn’t your ordinary festival, so load up the Ford. There will be a carnival full of exciting rides, amazing food to sample, a kids’ zone complete with a petting zoo, and lots of live entertainment. The musical artists will feature the talents of Bri Bagwell, Bart Crow, Kevin Fowler, Kirk Baxley, and many more. This year, there will even be a multi-court arena for playing dodgeball smack-dab in the middle of the festival. Tickets are just $15 and good for both days of the festival, May 9 and 10.

Get prepared for the Bloomin’ Festival by participating in the Bloomin’ Temple Rotary Half Marathon and 5K. Of course you will be doing lots of walking around at the festival, but for those who feel they need to get their blood pumping extra early, join others in this one-of-a-kind race. The Half Marathon begins at 8am on May 10 and the 5K begins at 8:30am. You will be done with this race before the Bloomin’ Festival begins and gain a free pass for participating. You will also receive a t-shirt and goodie bag. They will be handing out awards in the various categories which are dependent on age and gender.

This Memorial Day, join the community at the Memorial Day Farmer’s Market in Rogers on May 26. This family-oriented day will be filled with fun arts and crafts, food vendors, live music and more. There will be tons of artists and vendors selling their wares including metal and wood art, natural beauty products, homemade baked goods and a variety of jams, jellies and salsas. There is also a freshly planted vineyard that you can stroll through this year.

Be sure to check out all the fun and have a happy and safe May from your friends at Johnson Brothers Ford.

2013 Bloomin’ Festival

Bloomin FestivalLooking for a great way to get the whole family out this Mother’s Day weekend? Pack up your Ford and head on over to the Bloomin’ Temple Festival. This three-day event held on May 10th through the 12th will have music, games, car shows and a country music competition in downtown.

Entertainment: This festival is for people of all ages to get together and have some fun. Listen to live music played by local artists and bands such as Lee Roy Parnell, Ruben Ramos, Randy Rogers Band and others. The kids can enjoy the carnival with tons of food and games as they romp through Kid Zone or see the animals at the petting zoo. Feel free to have a picture taken at the Mother’s Day Photo Booth and save time for bike tours.

Events: Have a vehicle from your Ford that you customized with the coolest graphics and paint job? Then enter into the SPJST car show to win prizes. The car festival is almost a festival all of its own with entertainment, door prizes and great food. See if your car has what it takes to win! Even if you don’t get a prize, you can still check out all the other customized vehicles and get some interesting ideas on how you can make your car look and perform even better.

If guitars and country music is your passion, you can put your skills to the test on stage and become the next country music superstar by entering the Texaco Country Showdown. Compete against other country musicians as you impress the crowd with your sound. Play as a band or just rock out the stage on your own like the next Leann Rimes.

Do something good for the community while enjoying yourself at the festivities. Part of the proceeds will go to the Children’s Advocacy Center of Central Texas! Mark your calendar for the celebration starting Friday at 6am into the late hours of Sunday at Central Avenue and Fourth Street in downtown Temple.
